​About Us

​St. John Ambulance of Malaysia (Malay: St. John Ambulans Malaysia, Abbreviation: SJAM) is a self-funding, non-profit, non-religious, voluntary organisation, dedicated to the works of humanity and charity since 1908 during the British occupation in Malaya.
With close to a 1,500 voluntary members in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, SJAM WP strives to serve the rakyat with our motto, "Pro Utilitate Hominum – for the Service of Mankind".
Our volunteers are mainly seen in public sport events, festivals, parades as well as road accidents, floods, fires, landslides, collapsed buildings, explosion sites and other disaster.

Donate to Us
​Donate to us and get a Tax Exemption receipt! St John Ambulance of Malaysia (“SJAM”) is an approved organisation under the  Section 44(6) of Income Tax Act 1967, hence cash donations to SJAM entitles to tax exemption. 
There is no minimum amount of donation in order to be eligible for tax-exemption.
You are free to donate as much or as little an amount and still be entitled to a tax-exemption receipt. Nevertheless, there are administrative expenses that are incidental to the issuance of tax-exemption receipt that we have to incur, as such we request for your consideration on an appropriate amount should you wish to claim for tax-exemption.
Tax Deduction
Individuals are entitled to a tax exemption up to 7% of his/her aggregate income in the relevant year, whereas companies may claim a tax exemption of up to 10% of its aggregate income for the cash donations made to us.

Corporate and Community Visibility
Donations of cash and kind may also enable you or your organization to strengthen its position and branding in the community and government.


OUR Activities

Regional First Aid & Home Nursing Competition
​Regional First Aid and Home Nursing Competition is one of the most important annual events for our members. It assesses the first aid treatment of our members and enhances their skills to a  higher level. The competition will test the teams on foot-drill, first-aid skills, home nursing, teamwork and leadership. The best team in all categories who emerge as champion will represent the  Region to the National First Aid and Home Nursing Competition, competition with the state in Malaysia.
Divisional Instructional Meeting (DIM)
​A division (local group) is to meet at least twice a month. Members spend their time usually during weekends or after school hours to have training such as First Aid, Caring for the Sick and Foot Drill as extra co-curriculum activities. Members are trained to be a qualified first aider, who are able to give a hand to a casualty and  manage injuries. Foot Drill is organized occasionally to promote discipline.

Training the Trainers (TTT)
​This course is designed for adults members of SJAM who shall be responsible for conducting training on First Aid for members, volunteers, schools, public and corporate bodies. 
​Advanced First Aid (AFA)
​The Advanced First Aid Course emphasizes on skills and knowledge of advanced first aid procedures. It is designed for adult members of SJAM who have prior basic first aid knowledge and skills. Members who passed this level mind be able to participate in our ambulance services for 999 . This course is also a requirement for SJAM members who wish to become a First Aid Trainer.
Regional Review
​Regional Review is an annual event, serving the purpose of inspecting all members, in terms of the correctness of uniform and efficiency of membership. Members will also receive their promotion and awards such as the Grand Prior Award from the UK and the 1000 hours Special Service Shield Award.
Regional Cadet Camp (RCC)
This is an annual event for school cadet members to enjoy and explore camping in nature. Members are also taught to trust, respect, understand each other and develop leadership.This activity serves as a great opportunity to build their teamwork and network. This event is enclosed and reported to the State Education Department of Federal Territory.
Cadet Leadership Development Seminar (CLDS)
​This seminar groom’s young leader at schools or cadet divisions on administrative, financial and operational matters, while instilling leadership in them. This event is annually approved by the state education department and minister of youth and sports.
